The possibility that a hostile fire caused a Marine Corps MC-130 refueling plane to crash into a mountainside in western Pakistan. All seven Marines aboard the plane died as the aircraft prepared to land  at a forward operating base in Shamsi, Pakistan.

IN THE SOUTH OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS

On February 21, 2002 ten soldiers perished when the HM-47E helicopter they were riding in crashed.  into the Bohol Sea north of Zamboanga.  The crash site was a gulf about 120 miles north-northeast of the city of Zamboanga, off the coast of the southern island of Mindanao. The Army Chinook helicopter that crashed into the sea while taking part in a counter-terrorism training exercise. There were no initial indications that the helicopter was brought down by hostile  fire The bodies of three of the 10 servicemen on the MH-47E helicopter were recovered shortly after it crashed before dawn. A second U.S. military helicopter remained on the scene searching for survivors, but none were found. Below are the names of those who perished.
